It would be fun to program these types of algorithms. If only so that anyone with a phone could beat the best player in the world. I guess I enjoy the idea of breaking down human hubris....

Religion has no place in civilized society. Let's be honest and call it what it is: total intellectual capitulation. It is pretending to know things you don't know. Far worse, it is trying to peer pressure others into believing these things that you pretend to know out of an infantile refusal to face your own mortality.
And as shown today, religion is too easily manipulated to convince less mentally developed humans to kill people who don't subscribe to their insane interpretation of a book of lies.
Religion doesn't value life. It cheapens it by having you chase the carrot of a fantastical afterlife. Say what you want about atheists, but at least they value their time on Earth. Religious zealots throw lives away like garbage.
Religion should be regarded as a mental illness. As Dawkins said: when one person has delusions it is called insane; when many people have delusions it is called religion.
To quote one of my favorite Carlin skits:
"The god excuse, the last refuge of a man with no answers and no argument. It came from god."
