Too bad - call your congressman!

The Republican representative in the story below wants the USDA to declare the workers that support his constituents as essential, so they can work for free to clean up the mess in his state while he can head back to Washington and continue the fight against big government.

That kind of hypocrisy is so good it has to be fattening!

I think the title should be changed to:  "Republican Representative Advocates Slavery for S.D. Post-Blizzard Cleanup"

Shutdown Hinders S.D. Post-Blizzard Cleanup

SDPB - October 14, 2013

A freak October blizzard earlier this month killed tens of thousands of cattle in South Dakota....

Mark the moment

This could be the year that history books in the future will cite as the year that America's decline became readily apparent:

That's what happens when you build your house on a foundation of bullshit.  Guess we'll have to add the phrase "full faith and credit of the United States" to the other meaningless, blatantly false phrases we the people are so very dear of, such as:

Land of the Free
Home of the Brave
All men are equal
The press is free
Freedom of speech
Your vote counts
The American Dream

Speaking of the American Dream, this is a great time to watch George Carlin to get a sliver of truth in a world full of lies:

Loggin

I will be sore tomorrow after working with Dave to haul, stack, and load all this:

A great workout. At one point I was emitting a steam aura from every pore in the damp weather.

Tibetan craze really "catches" on . . . . Fire

I found the following story on the NPR iPad App

Man Sets Himself On Fire On The National Mall
by Eyder Peralta

NPR - October 4, 2013

What has already been a strange and scary work week in the nation's capital, came to a close with a shocking incident on the National Mall: For reasons we don't yet know, witnesses say a man doused himself with gasoline and then set himself on fire.

Out of the darkness

Highly recommend all listen to "California's dark" by Tom Morello.

Excerpt:
"It'll start with a spark . . . and a great fire will grow
Don't know how I know it man . . . . yeah, but I just know

There's a riot on Sunset.
And fires in the park
The sun sets everywhere
And the whole damn country's done . . . . "

I need an unpaid vacation but my agency doesn't run out of money until next Tuesday.
