Night tree work

Big dead limb cracked and was hanging precariously over the new truck, so I rigged a line to it and climbed the front tree with an electric pole saw near the power lines to remove it in the dark. Would cut until a neighbor drove up, wait until they went inside, then cut again in case the limb went all wonky on me and knocked out power on the block. No one saw me and the limb dropped and lowered precisely where I was aiming, didn't even touch the power line even though the end of the 20 foot branch was originally over the lines. Felt pretty good. But what felt best was hanging out, free climbed, into the tree with a polesaw in hand.

Afternoon ride

Pulled out the iPhone on an afternoon ride. Safety schmafety.

Hunting time

Dave and I have taken up bowhunting. Got up early Saturday to head out to his neighbors woods, where Dave had a treestand and I set up upstream on the creek with the view shown below. After an hour and a half, we spotted four deer. They wandered just out of firing range. Have to say I liked being out in the woods in the cold, alert and waiting for the chance to strike. Have to go more often. Next time I'll teach the squirrels a lesson for yelling at me. . .

Bow ready

Installed the fiber optic sight and arrow rest. Awaiting receipt of the custom carbon arrows.
